I'm preparing a script to back up everything off of Greg's computer as quick as possible. I need to find the hard drive, the hard drive enclosure, but I haven't seen that for a while. I'm going to take a look here very quickly, but I think it's at the office. I'll have to bring that. My plan is to connect that into the main computer when you walk into the main room there, which I'm currently using as a file share for other things such as ePlans and for the accounting department. My plan is to add that in there and give key personnel access to what files Greg ended up having on the computer. I'll do the same thing for Tim's computer. I have his files ready, so I'll put his files on there, although I didn't really have too much anyways.

Chris just called. He just did the morning minutes and he wants to know how to send an email to the company wide. I'm just checking because Greg, I think, had a distribution list set up, so I want to just port the distribution list instead of setting that up, but I'm seeing some things here and it seems like a security vulnerability, so I'm kind of worried, but I'm just going to look into this now. He called about 13 minutes ago and I'm just looking into the info right now. I have him on the phone, so I'm going to get this resolved real quick.

All right, I finished, got off the phone with Chris, delegated some permissions to him so that he could manage the company-wide email, and talked about quick suggestions on how to improve that. I'm going to have to have a meet with him later on this afternoon. And hopefully, well, apparently, anything that I talked to Greg about was never implemented. And Chris seems interested in implementing this stuff, and in fact mentioned that him and Vlad were talking about a suggestion that I had made earlier about organizing all the projects. So I'm hoping, I know it's digressing a little bit from the ERP, but I'm hoping to set that up, or maybe focus on that a little bit just to get some things tidied up and organized. Sam also mentioned that the best time to fully roll out and implement the ERP is going to be in the new year. For accounting purposes, it makes it a lot easier. And she mentioned the biggest kind of shortfall right now is a project management system, which again, has to tie into financials, so it has to be part of the ERP. But I think a basic kind of planning structure is necessary at this point in time anyways.

figure out how to enable Wi-Fi before logon so that computers can authenticate over the internet. We may have to get a Wi-Fi receiver here or maybe there is a different Wi-Fi that we can use. TCC is using WPA2 which is an old version and not supported for pre-logon.

Where are the two hard drives that were here before? One was an external drive, one was an actual hard drive.
5:30PM
label all the shit here, I don't know, like it's a fucking mess.
5:53PM
So when I came here today I had to find the box of stuff that was under Greg's desk. I guess they moved it downstairs. Max took me downstairs, took a bit of time, I guess, to find the key. Well, not really a bit of time, but he had to find the key and then we went downstairs. I was looking through the box there, quite a bit of a mess. It looks like somebody needed something, pulled it out, and just dumped it back in. Too tired to clean it up. Gonna call Alice and see if they have a spare filing cabinet or some kind of a shelf or whatever that we can put that stuff in to keep it more organized. I have boxes at home, so I'll bring them to separate the keyboards and the cables at least so it's a little bit cleaner because it's a complete mess.
5:55PM
After I got through that stuff, I didn't see the hard drive, either of the hard drives. There was a hard drive and then an external hard drive. I didn't see them there. I came upstairs. I was going to ask about that, but I think Ryan wanted something. I was going to give him the computer today, but TCC is using an older WPA2 connection. We're enterprise connection, and we can't do pre-log on for Wi-Fi before, like the user has to be logged in in order to log into the Wi-Fi, which won't work because we need the internet to be able to authenticate a user. So the only way to log somebody in is log in as an administrator. Then we'll get Wi-Fi and then log out and then log in as a person, which is not viable. So either, yeah, if they were on WPA3 enterprise, then we could have pre-log on Wi-Fi, but WPA2 is just too old, so it's not working. So I'm going to have to take a moment and figure out, I don't know how to do this anymore. The only solution that I have is to buy a wireless router, plug it in, create a WPA2 personal or WPA3 enterprise connection on our own for pre-log on, authenticate that. And then when the user logs in, connect directly to the TCC network. The other option would have been using an active directory server, but we don't have that. I mean, I set one up, but TCC won't let us install it. So pretty much screwed.
5:56PM
While I was there, Ryan asked me a question about attaching pictures to emails. So I went through and I explained to him how to do that. He had tried to share images, I guess, through Teams, which is through SharePoint is where they're stored. And there was some permission issues. So I suggested that he simply download the files. He can download one by one or select all the files and then download them as a zip, extract them and drag them into the email. Or I suggested he could just take a screenshot of it using the print screen key and then paste them into the email if they don't have to be super high resolution. And he seemed to like that solution.
5:58PM
I went downstairs I got two of the phones I installed one for Daphne at Daphne's desk and one where Paul sits. Vlad has one beside him that's kind of shared with I guess Chris. I don't know if Chris is going to get a cell phone but my idea was that everybody who's not going to have access to a company cell phone will have a desk phone so that they could transition to to use those for work calls and that way we can issue extensions to everybody in the company right away from the beginning and have that set up once and done kind of thing. Daphne does procurement so I think it would be nice for her to use company phone instead of her cell phone and same thing Paul if he needs a call from the company line then he could end up using it and we can direct calls to the work phone but I'm sure he's gonna probably use his personal phone anyways but you know that's the option will be there for him anyways if he wants to or not and I still have to configure those so I'll do that probably tomorrow morning.
5:59PM
I backed up Greg's data onto the file share. So I created a new file share user and I backed that up. Yeah, I forgot that TCC was doing internet maintenance today. So at five o'clock, the internet stopped working, which kind of threw a curve ball. I think all the files transferred over, but when I checked the total file size on the server versus on his computer, they were different. That could be for a number of reasons. The file count stayed the same, but the size on disk changed. That could just be a different file system or it could be different sector size. Or a different default sector allocation. So if they're different, it'll show up as different sizes on the disk. So I will run checks at home and then I'll run it remotely on this computer as well.
5:59PM
I enrolled the TV into remote management. I should enroll Daphne's in remote management as well before I go because hers is part of it, but I will have to come back anyway. So drop these tablets off. So I think I'll just do it at that point in time.
6:00PM
The rest of the time, I was trying to get the internet to work. Again, we had this pre-logon issue and the only way to do it is with a root CA certificate. But again, we'd need an Active Directory server for that. I was trying to see if there's any kind of way that I can set up a wireless profile as a system user. But whenever you do a domain joined, and I have to verify this, but I think whenever you do a domain joined, it will not allow the WPA2 Enterprise, but I still have to do a little bit more research into that. My hunch is that for WPA2 Enterprise, it will have to be a certificate based from a root CA authority to create a trusted connection between the computer and the server and the wireless network, which again, is a bit of a curve ball, but it will take a little bit more time before I figure out why that's not working.
6:01PM
The package from Amazon also came in so I am going to take that home and have that ready for the weekend so I can get in and replace that, at least have one thing done.
6:02PM
I also went through the printer settings to make sure that we have an accurate driver list because right now we haven't had a concise driver install throughout the network for the printer and scanner. But I have a print off and I think it should be good enough for me to find the driver or at least find a generic one that I can deploy across all the computers.
