Magenta Construction

8:12AM
I have to set up a new test computer since I gave the new one to the office. I'm going to have to follow up with them, make sure the conversion went smooth. And I'm going to set up a Wi-Fi router here for pre-logon, because that's something that we need. And TCC hasn't replied back, so I give up with them. I'm going to have to make a Wi-Fi script as well, so that it disconnects whenever it detects TCC Client is available. I'll make it automatically connect as well, if the profile exists, and if not, it'll just nag them to connect to TCC Client.
9:11AM
Still working on setting up the router. Alejandro and Carolyn needed help setting up their computer. Alejandro, I guess, connected to TCC Guest and wanted to connect for him, so I told him, connect to TCC Client. And it started working for him. And Carolyn was asking how to sign in to the laptop. I told her with her work email. And she's like, but I use my personal Microsoft user. I'm like, well, just log in with your Magento one. And a previous week, I synced everything up to your work one. And it should work. And she's asking me if she has to create an account. I'm like, nope, just log in with your email. And then finally, she says, it works. They seem to be good now. I'll have to follow up with them. Alejandro also needs me to reset password for United Surface Pro. I just want to finish setting up this router.
9:50AM
Alright, I had to connect to Carolyn's computer because I told her to download something from the company portal for Bluebeams, made that very clear and gave her instructions, but she went on to Bluebeams' website to try to download it and said it's not working. I had to connect and show her, open up the company portal, look for Bluebeams under apps, click install, and there you go.
9:50AM
Uh, I don't remember what I was doing so, but uh, just get back on track. Something with the router and pre-log on. Okay, I got it.
10:40AM
All right, so I took one of the old TP-Link routers that were at the farm before that we replaced with the Amado system over there, so it's user-community controlled remotely. So I have this TP-Link router, one of them was from Magenta, one of them was mine. So the Magenta one, I'm going to set up with a wireless, or I did set up with a wireless access point, and I set the DHCP mode to auto, it doesn't really actually matter what I set it to, because we're just using it as a pre-logon stage, and there's no IP conflicts anyways between this and TCC. So this is going to plug in somewhere in the office, and it will provide a WPA2-PSK Wi-Fi access point with the name MPLW, so Magenta Pre-Logon Wireless, or Wi-Fi, and I have a code for that, and it's just going to plug in to the TCC network, it should act as an access point, so it shouldn't create its own DHCP server, it should just use the IPs off of TCC, which means that even if you're connected to this, you'd still have access to network resources, which is nice, but even if it does create its own DHCP and puts it in its own subnet, it doesn't matter, the devices will be isolated, but I'm making a script later in Intune that's going to make it kick off the Magenta Pre-Logon Wireless, if TCC is in range. And so that will force people to connect to a TCC client, and I'll probably do it by creating a prompt or something, I'm not sure, but for right now, that's what I have set up. Now I've got to go into Kudu and add this device in there with the passwords so I don't forget, and some documentation about that, and then I'm going to create a Wi-Fi deployment profile with a second priority Wi-Fi for this access point, so that all the computers on the new system will have access to Wi-Fi when they're logging in.
10:43AM
I'm not sure if it recorded the last one there, but anyways, in short, I set up. So we have the access points from the Kempf Hill Farm. One of them was Magenta's, one of them was mine, so I'm taking the Magenta one so that it's not just going to sit and collect dust. I set it up as an access point with the automatic DHCP server. So when it's connected to a TCC client, technically it won't create its own DHCP server, it will use a DHCP server off a TCC network. Which means that somebody who connects to Magenta PreLogon Wireless, MPLW, which is what I named this access point, will have access to all the company resources. I'm not sure if this is what we want completely in the future. For now, it's a good solution, because if people don't end up connecting to TCC client, it'll still act as a connection, I just don't know if it'll be super fast if everybody's connecting to it. So we should be kind of forcing people to connect to TCC client. So what I will do is I will make a PowerShell script that will actually do that. It will check what access point we're connected to, once the user has logged in, and if it's connected to Magenta PreLogon Wireless, it'll check if TCC client is in range, and it'll try to connect to it if the profile's already been saved. And if not, then it will just put a popup every five minutes or something saying, hey, connect to TCC client. And it'll just be annoying to try to force people off of this PreLogon, because I don't want a lot of traffic going through it. It's not meant to do that. It's really just meant to provide internet connection before logging in, and so that I can do remote support if I need to, because, again, TCC is on an older style WPA2 enterprise network, and I tried to contact them to work something out with them so that we can have certificates for our users, but it's been over a month and I haven't heard back, so moving on to plan B, workaround.
7:40PM
I actually finished at 6.34, Troy stopped by, and I managed to actually turn off one of my timers, so that's how I know I stopped at 6.34, but I forgot the other one. Anyways I ended up deploying print drivers as well to Intune for Alejandro, I'll have to see how that works tomorrow. And setting it as default, and tomorrow I've just got to do SSID WiFi push for pre-logon and drop off this lovely router which I'm going to turn off right now as well. And then I've got a couple things to do with the phones, and hopefully get that wrapped up and everything done by the end of the week, and then I can do ERP next week, hopefully. Finally getting shit off the plate.
