Magenta Construction

7:47AM - 5:44PM (9 Hours 57 Minutes)

10:05AM

I'm just working on something with Carolyn right now. I was dealing with it yesterday as well. She has some kind of a file naming issue. So, anyway, she was saying that sometimes certain things don't work. I just got a sample of her file. And there's first of all a number sign in there, which isn't a group character, but then she sent me the path of where it is. And it's taking up 264 characters total. It's in like C users, Carolyn, the one drive dash magenta construction desktop, magenta exterior solutions, O1 projects, O1 builder, Mattamy, Oxford Village, phase one, lot 40 dash 211, Hardy Street, Kenfield, work order, magenta work order dash WO number sign 8940 dash siding dash APR 30 comma 2025 dot PDF. So, it's a pretty long name. They shouldn't be that long, but like we really got to work on shorting that up. I might be able to shorten it by a handful of characters. I might be able to shorten it by 23 characters, which would kind of solve the problem for now, but it's going to be a lot of work to save those 23 characters. I pretty much have to, it's a lot of work. I think I'd have to apply, I'd have to pretty much reinstall, uninstall one drive, somehow have it, I guess, specify a custom path name or custom folder that it would go into, and then reinstall it on all the systems. That's a lot of work. And then it would have to sync all the files, which would take, you know, quite a long time for most people, most people's computers. So, to save 23 characters, it's not really worth it. I think we got to just figure out a different folder structure to use.

10:20AM

I'm just going to connect to Caroline's computer just to check out if I can easily fix this problem for her.

11:11AM

So, I just did a screen share on Caroline's computer to look up some stuff, it's a lot of work to change the folder, it's possible, what I'm going to have to do is I'm going to have to write a script that terminates OneDrive, it's going to have to rename the OneDrive folder to something shorter, like OneDrive Mag, or ODM, or OD, or whatever we want to call it. I'll have to search through all the registry for slash OneDrive dash magenta construction, replace it with a new value, specifically in HP current user software, Microsoft OneDrive accounts, business one, change the user folder, and then under scoped ID, mount point path cache, under the ID, change the path, and then under business one tenants, change the path there, and then under HP current user software, sync engines, providers, OneDrive, buy an ID, and then find the mount point in there, and then in HP local machine, software Microsoft security center provider, CBP, then the ID and namespace, and then HP local machine software, Microsoft Windows, current version, explorer, sync root manager, OneDrive, then the ID, sync roots, and then under the SID, change that, and then I'd have to edit the ID.ini, and in a user profile, app data, local Microsoft OneDrive settings, business one, and yeah, look it up by the ID.ini, and then there's going to be a path in there that I have to replace, and it'd be in the library scope, but there's a whole bunch of other things in the registry, like map namespaces that were being used, so I'd have to update that, so I could probably just create a PowerShell script that searches the registry, and replaces all occurrences of slash OneDrive, and then I probably could do the same thing, opens up each of the .ini files in user profile, app data, local Microsoft OneDrive settings, business one, and search for slash OneDrive dash magenta construction, and replace that in there, and then theoretically just reopen OneDrive. It would just be very important that the names, I'd have to test this, because if OneDrive...

5:44PM

I ended up getting on the phone with Sam, Sam is her name. I ended up getting on the phone with Sam just before, it might have been actually earlier than that, could have been, oh, I don't remember anymore. Why does it not show me when we have our call? About 1.30, we got on the phone. Started talking a bunch of different things. I want her to start getting stuff moved over into the web drive that I set up on SharePoint to kind of explain the permissions. Digressed a little bit into org charts, actually digressed a lot, so I'm still working on it right now. But in terms of explaining the permission structure of why the web drive is set up the way that it is and how we should be looking at it for the future, how the folder should be set up down the road. Jesus, I'm tired. My mind's blanking. Why it was set up the way that it was and how to think about the permissions moving forward so that when she creates the folders, for example, to think about the permissions of potential staff that may be hired in the future, looking at a junior, senior and lead kind of staff role and then supervisor, functional manager, operations manager, et cetera, et cetera. So in an example of like payroll, in their payroll drive, they wouldn't just create a folder with the employee's names and then keep all the information inside of there because then the problem with that is, for example, you'd have Conrad and then you'd have payroll records, a folder for payroll records, a folder for ROE, T3s, whatever, T4, whatever, T2. No, I'm not a subcontractor. Anyways. And then you'd have, let's say, you know, another folder for other forms. And the issue is that if you have like a junior guy who goes in, yeah, here's a good example. So if you did payroll and then you created a folder for Conrad and then inside of there, you had timesheets and then you had pay stubs and whatever other folders, but just let's say that's as an example. Let's say a junior person might be responsible for collecting hours and checking them and making sure...
