Magenta Construction

7:31AM - 7:58PM (12 Hours 26 Minutes)

12:06PM

All right, I just got off another meeting with the ERP guy, started at 10, we just ended at 12. Quite a lot longer, I had a lot of questions, but I wanted to ask him, I had to revise the phases that he did, because we weren't going to be releasing the email application, I wanted to ask him if we can send notifications to people if there's already pre-existing tasks that exist, which there are, the notifications we can send, how to do multiple file attachment. It's a little bit eh, not that good, but there might actually be an extension, there might actually be an extension for that, for the multiple attachments already that exist. I learned about quick entry pop-up, and that even when digressing from a page to add another DOCTYPE record, it'll navigate back to the previous page, learned that all child tables, child tables we can use in other DOCTYPES, so we can do editable grid, we'll be doing one app, with multiple modules, for the different sections, we can customize the view in ERPNext with using client scripts, or have our own page, which is called traffic pages, with custom implementations, we can either have API calls going outside of the server, using JavaScript on the page, or if they have to make changes in the ERP system, then we make a Python script, and then it has an endpoint, I guess, that it listens to, which opens it up so that if we want to send form data or anything else from our servers over, we can develop a custom Python, and all that's packaged in a custom app, we can also override any kind of processes that already exist in Frappe, they do have web forms in ERPNext, which we can use to convert our request and estimator contractor applications, and then use that to funnel it right into our framework, ERPNext has a way to compare supplier prices to give you the best option as well. He did develop an app that he used Next.js as a front-end and Frappe framework for the back-end. I asked him why, just because the back-end's already all done. There was calendar view and tree view as...

12:11PM

So I also asked him how the upgrades will work, and because we're going to be doing a customized app and exporting those fixtures, we'll not lose anything in between upgrades. So we'll just be modifying everything that's in the ERP, so we're not going to be starting over. I asked him if there's a way that we can create this to sell or rent to other people, either listing in the marketplace or packaged. He said yes to both. I do feel that if we offer it in the marketplace, we don't have enough proprietary technology behind it to do that. So we'll have to package it together and offer it as a SaaS or a PaaS. And that's it for now. In the morning I was working on breaking this stuff down as well, trying to add this stuff in there, trying to just make this work. Creating new field views, there's a lot. So I'm trying to work on this. I do have to explore quite a bit in between the ERP system as well to see how things work. So I have the doc guide set up. But he did kind of clarify a lot of stuff over here for me about this, and actually a lot of the base foundation is already laid, which is nice. But I do have to look through here a lot actually to find out what features already exist and which ones do not. But it does seem like quite a bit is actually already done. So I'm just adding some. I do already have a purchase receipt list. It would be really nice if... The other thing is what already exists here. There's a lot of stuff added. There's a lot of stuff added in here. The receipt is... There's a lot. We don't have that yet. So anyways, yeah, I have to look through that and do this.

12:12PM

I also call my buddy with the fiberglass ladder, he's in Barhaven actually right now, doing some light switch installs at his father's place. He should be finishing within the next hour. So we're going to go to Kempville after this, and I'm going to cut that cable and tack it somewhere and splice it, and yeah. And get the internet hooked up in the back hopefully, hopefully it all works.

12:13PM

So for now I'm just going to keep working on this ERP planning. I'm going to have to organize my windows here because I have a lot of a lot of windows open here but yeah

12:30PM

Alright, I updated the timeline a little bit to add some features. I have to finish up some permissions here as well.

2:52PM

Alright, I'm going out to Kemphill now. My buddy is free with the van, so I'm going to do that right now.

3:51PM

Just got to the farm, and I'm going to do this wiring stuff now.

7:57PM

I forgot to sign out, but I finished about half an hour ago and I'm home now, but I still have a couple things to do to get the internet working, but the line is put up overhead, so it's not lying on the grass anymore. I tested the lines between the front and back, everything worked, and between the front and the bungalow, everything worked, and I made the connections, put in the waterproof casing and everything. It should be working, it might just be a setting that I might have to do in the Armada.

7:58PM

My buddy was helping me, I paid him a hundred bucks out of my own pocket to borrow his ladder and to have me, like, help me hold the ladder and run the wire and everything like that. So he was there for a few hours anyways, probably. I think he left at just before six o'clock, and we got there around three o'clock-ish. So about three hours anyways, and it was good to have him, and he saved me a lot of trips back and forth. When he left, I had to do all that running around myself, so it took more time for sure. But anyways, that's it for me for today.
